Reality Shows ..
Of late having been watching a bit of TV or rather what they call the 'Reality shows' - Indian Idol, Harsha Bhogle ki Khoj etc etc. I was really impressed by the tremendous enthusiasm, response and participation at these events. And so it just struck me if we could something similar in our club meetings.
Following are my thoughts:
1). Currently roles like MC and TTM are handled by members.Instead these roles will be handled by a guest member
2). Instead of 1 MC, we will have 2 people who will compare the whole show. Similarly, instead of 1 TTM, we will have 2 people. They will still talk on the theme set by the Edu committee. 3). Now, if we have this over a period of 2 months, 4 meetings that means 16 guests will get a chance to anchor a TM meeting. The final meeting will have the winners of these 4 meetings and the final winner will get his TM joining fees sponsored by the club or anything deemed fit by members.
4). If we have more than 16 guests willing to participate, we can have an initial screening with a TT session.
5). Now, as far as members are concerned. Each member will get a chance to vote for the participants.
6). I have heard at times, many office-bearers and members cribbing that they do not get an opportunity to speak spontaneosly. So, the table topics session will just have members speaking for the next two months.
7). Of course, we cannot use the word 'Idol' .. or we will fall in a legal battle with American/Indian Idols :)
8). So in brief, we will still have our regular flow SAA- Prez- MC- Speakers- TT- >Eval. Only difference being MC and TT roles being handled by guests each.
Some of the advantages that I can think of :
1). Meetings can be very interesting
2). There will be a lot of publicity and number of attendees can jump tremendously
3). Member participation will increase
4). Other guests will get a chance to participate actively and may join our club
5). It will be the first of its kind happening in any TM club in the world.

Taking a cue from US reality shows like "Apprentice".... Have 2 teams compete in some events if possible... .as in first half team 1..... second half team 2
OR
1 meeting... team 1... second meeting team 2.They could have some more roles like the PR for their
meeting... Ads to spreading the news... organising for
Chief guests etc.Can discuss this more if you like this idea.
