Fear vs Faith ..
This year I have re-committed myself to journaling at least once every week. It helps clarify my thoughts and put things into perspective.
There are 2 forces that control your life - FAITH and FEAR. Consider
How do you accept your core?
- NE - New Experiences
- PM - Physical Mastery & CM - Cognitive Mastery
- RBB - Rewire your brain and body
PM is how you respond on a bad day. Adversity is a demonstration of true character. CM is when its in our mind as a natural thing. NE is when you are actively involving yourself by coming out of the resting place and breaking the condition of being. Our survival brain is our biggest enemy. So, we need to put NE + PM = RBB to rewire our brain and body!
What will guarantee your failure ?
- RA - Running Away
- RS - Rationalize softening
- NC - Not Corrigible/Coachable
- CM - Closed Mind
RA is arguing for our limitations, not showing up and willing to be vulnerable. RS is when you tell yourself that status quo is ok and rationalize that it's not bad. It's a signal that you are willing to remain mediocre. Life will only reward actions - you got to be ready to move. There is no such thing as failure - only delayed results. NC is when you are not opening yourself to feedback. Anyone can provide an opinion but people who provide feedback usually have your best interest at heart.
Some people cave-in and start doubting themselves, feel down when provided with a feedback. Others attack the source when provided with feedback. A third category do a counter attack, sometimes being defensive and other times arguing back and not willing to listen or understand what's the source of the feedback. This leads to taking a position and finally leading to a point where you say "I don't care and I am right". The right way is to thank the feedback provider is being appreciative and say tell me more, give examples so that you can clearly understand. That is when you can figure out the blindspot and take steps to correct. Secret to everything: CAC - Correct Adjust Correct.
You are not a failure, till you give-up. Here are some reasons why people give-up:
- Stop believing in themselves or believing in their weakness
- Give up their power
- Get stuck in the past
- Dwell on mistakes
- Feel sorry for themselves
- Fear the future
- Resist change
- Feel they have something to lose
- Fear failure more than desire success
- Never visualizing what is possible
- Expecting fast results
- Feel the world owes them something
- Overwork
- Assume their problems are unique
- See failure as the signal to turn back
Life is not a journey but a story. If you would like to truly transcend, you must become clear of the storyline you are living. No amount of money will ever change a bad storyline. Your story becomes the hypnotic trance and rhythm that you continue to dance without realizing it's out of tune and out of step of the true purpose of life.
- Who is the character ?
- Whats the plot ?
- Whats the recurring theme ?
Your recurring theme and stories become your limiting belief. You become caught up in daily routines and forget to make the changes that will yield higher results. You accept the conclusions your mind has accepted as truth. You have created imaginary problems or social conditioning about what people might think, if you go against this storyline.
Example 1: Limiting belief - I can't do this. Replace with new story line - I can do this.
Example 2: Repeat 1 above with an actual failure story. Replace with new story line - repeat 1 above with an actual success story.
Example 3: Say aloud a task that you find very hard. Repeat that with a belief that you can do the same task.
Our mind rapidly makes sense of the world of what seems right and familiar. Sometimes what you think is right is not right for you. Sometimes how much money you make depends on the story you tell yourself. By age 38, 95% of the stories become automatic. Without clarity on the storyline, you'll keep going back to the same trance. When you show up, you can really shine. Keep the energy level high and show up for yourself. Everyday, you've got a choice. Life is a cumulation of choices taken in FAITH in the moment, vs. masking-up / shield-up / FEAR.
Question to ask - Am I guiding my life with FEAR or FAITH ?
35000 choices are made every single day. You can choose to live a different story and act differently. Not changing the status quo /hiding / not being honest to yourself is also a choice. Every morning, you have a choice : To be afraid and feel like a VICTIM or move with faith and feel like a HERO. Have you considered taking a step when others said you were crazy ?
Fear is rooted in the identity called VICTIM. Victims do not crave a new future. Being or acting like a victim is addictive. It is easy, comfortable and familiar. We like to relive the past as it is comfortable and do not want to create a new future as that requires courage. Ignoring a problem or being rooted in fear or past behavior does not make us fully participate or commit to the present and hence we end up not solving the problem! Fear is very contagious and addictive. It manipulates us into believing that you are not in control. So, we start hiding and telling ourselves and the world that everything is ok and will be fine. We use positivity to mask our problems and it requires radical honesty to acknowledge them. However, we have not moving forward till you have taken FAITH based choices.
We got to wake-up the HERO in us. Make the decision and do everything that will change the status quo. "Enough is enough" - wake up that part of you again by reminding who you truly are. Most people are just settling down and getting drowned in mediocrity. We need to break-free from past conditioning, break the mold, filter out self-destructiveness and limiting beliefs out of our lineage and thus change the course to be truly the TRANSITIONAL character in your family's history.
A transitional character is a person who in a single generation, changes the course of lineage. Who somehow find a way to metabolize the poison and refuse to pass it to their children. Their contribution is to filter out the disruptiveness out of their lineage so that the generation downstream will have a supportive foundation on to which to build productive lives.
Questions to ask:
- What are you passing forward to the next generation?
- Are you standing up and changing things for them?
- Are you pursuing your full potential and allowing your children to witness and learn from you ?
Everything in nature involves DNA (change and grow). REFUSAL & FEAR is the root of why we never really change. Society is getting good at masking fear through arrogance, smile, entertaining others, never pursuing what they really want, never leaving familiar places. Allowing fear to manipulate us. We grow up hiding our fears. What are you hiding inside now?
In Life, you must adopt a vision - are you ready to stop hiding ? what must be done differently ? How are you resisting ?
The root of regret is fear - we refuse the call at the point of "courage moment". What lies are you telling yourself that needs radical honesty ? Stop shielding yourself and be vulnerable.
How are you unconsciously hiding the fear ?
We begin to create a life-rule of what doesn't overwhelm us is okay. What overwhelms us is not okay! Anxiety/angst in our career moves / choices. Deep inside we do not want to be disturbed. We use logical justification and imprison ourselves.
- What are the top 3 recurring fears now?
- How have I arranged my life, relationships, schedule, career moves, behaviors, around the desires to avoid the fears ?
- What have been the consequences of these fears so far in my life?
- Whats the ultimate cost if I continue in this path or pattern ?
- Make a new decision & take a step forward when feeling vulnerable
- How are you currently hiding your fear right now ?
- Why do we refuse to transcend? Because we spend so much energy in refusing - you got to choose to move forward and do things to commit more and more.
- Who you must be to be the transitional character ? You got to RE-COMMIT.
